Sense all the sudden not counting steps correctly on treadmill

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

About 4 days ago my sense started not counting 20 of every 100 steps I take on my treadmill. As someone that shoots to do 26,000 steps, leaving 20% off is going to make it even harder. I didn't change how I wear the device. I put it on the charger and did shut it down. I used a stride calculator and it said 28.8 was my treadmill stride. As I said this is a recent issue. Can someone help?

If you have an Android phone, there was an update to the Fitbit app about 4 days ago though why that should change the watch counting is odd.

Probably best to inform Fitbit Support directly of the sudden change. They may also be able to help you.

Your saying that the tracker isn't counting your steps @mummer18, then you mention a stride calculator.

You can't open a stride calculator until after your step count has been certified.

Let's let our arms swing naturally, while on the treadmill, than, using your mind, count your steps and compare to fit it's count.

I count every forward swing of the left arm. Count off, in separate runs, 100, then 200 and then 500 steps. This give me 200, 400, and 1000 step counts to compare with to.

Once the steps are confirmed, we can adjust the stride, which changed with a change in running speed.

Rich the stride calculator just does the math. I do count all my steps and sometimes left arm. Like clockwork on treadmill at 4 mph it's 2200 steps when counted. Then I put that info in the step calculator just to see if the stride length in the app and set to automatic matches the number I get from the calculator.  Like I said been using the sense for four months no issue. Been using Fitbit for 8 years. I know all the obvious tricks. Looking for more detailed one I may be missing. For example when does the Fitbit switch from a walk stride to a run stride. At 3.7 mph the steps are right. At 4 mph is when they drop 20 steps per hundred.

That would Ben's question for the developers, I suspect the run / walk stride switches when the user changes what they are doing.

The title says that your steps are not being counted correctly. Changing the stride, will not change the way steps are counted.

You say at 4mph you counted 2200 steps, but how many steps did the Sense count?
