Sense battery not lasting

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I am only getting about 2 days worth of charge with my Sense watch.  I am not even turning on the display to check my stats much and in one day the battery has dropped over 40%.  This is far from the 6 day battery life the specs says it has.

Is this a defect in the battery or smartwatch?

I'd say your has a defective battery. Just my opinion.

Thanks for the reply. Do you have a sense watch also? Are you getting
more time out of yours

I would contact support. They usually have some type of test to run.

I get 4-6 days with the SpO2 face on the sense

Yes, the 6 day claim is complete BS.  I have the watch set to display off unless I hit the button and I have to charge it about every 3rd day.

I guess they have an issue with the watch because I'm having the
same problem.

I hope they take ownership of this issue.

I use the always on display with a fitbit designed face, use the spO2 tracking at night for about 6-7 hours, have some notifications come to my watch (that vibrate) but not tons and get about 2+ (to 3) days on the battery. happy with that, my apple watch friends charge every day. love how quickly it charges. I am sure fitbit will continue to optimize battery usage. definitely contact them about yours and see what they say.

I was a little worried during the first week of ownership regarding battery life, however, things have settled in.

I have all notifications on, weather app running, and all the other background stuff ON, including the SPO2 clockface (24/7).  I have the always on display OFF, and lift to wake OFF.  The screen brightness is set to NORMAL.

My Sense consumes 20% per day, so I can go 5 days from full to zero.  But I usually charge after 4 days when I get the notification.

If I don't use the SPO2 clockface, and set the screen to DIM, and turn off the background stuff like the weather app OFF, I am sure that I can EASILY get 6+ days as advertised.

I'm sure the OS updates will get us to 6 days under full operation.

I had an Ionic and its battery lasted about two days. Replaced it with the Sense. I just charged yesterday morning and it is at 18% battery life now. Given, I run/walk for an hour every day, so it is on capturing GPS signal, but my Ionic did the same. I was hoping for a much better battery life.

Do you use it for recording physical activity or just as a watch?

I used it the way it came to monitor the steps, heart rate, floors climbed
& not much more than that

I sure don't get 6 days! Of course I'm using the "always on" feature, but I'm probably getting more like two and a half to three days. I end up topping mine up from about 65% or so daily. I'm wondering if I ought to run it completely down a time or two just to better the battery?

Best Answer

I charge mine for about 20 minutes a day when I'm showering, and it never drops below about 60%.  I'm pretty sure I'd get 5 days if I just let it discharge.  Using Sp02 clockface.

Id be curious if the SP02 clockface uses more battery then others. If so, and considering it isn't monitoring SP02 throughout the day then the clockface needs to be updated to be more efficient and use less battery. Overnight SP02 monitoring shouldn't drastically alter battery life considering it's already monitoring SP02 as part of sleep tracking for oxygen variation graph.

I've had my Sense since 9/23, and until this week, I was getting 3.5-4 days on the battery. I do use the SPO2 face at night. Starting on Monday this week, the battery has started draining really fast. I'm trending about 1.5 days on a charge now. I haven't changed any settings, alarms, clock faces, activities - all are the same as last week.

@slconline15 have you shut down and restarted the sense and you phone? They should add a feature to enable auto restart of the sense on a schedule similar to how you can schedule your phone to auto restart on a weekly basis. I just charged mine today i'll try using a different watchface during the day and only use SP02 before bed. I'll see how long it lasts. I don't think i've ever gotten 6 days, 4-5 sounds like the max but i'll try to monitor to see

The weird thing now is that since I posted I'm starting to get more battery
life out of it now. I haven't changed anything or charged since Monday
morning and I'm only down to 35% right now.

I lost over 60% in the first 24hrs and only 20% in just over the next 24
hrs

I'll give that a try.

Yes, I have restarted the Sense and the phone. I also logged out of the software, made sure it had the latest version, and logged back in. I just did the last round of resets a few minutes ago and am 82% battery after charging it this morning at 8am. I'm going to keep an eye on the drain rate the rest of the day and see if it slows any. That auto-reset would be a good feature, it seems like we end up hard resetting most of the Fitbit devices once a week or so. LOL

Yeah, I never got the 6 days, either. The first week before I started using the SPO2 face I got 5 solid days. Turning the SPO2 face on at night and off in the morning did let me get to the 4 days, I left it on all day at first and it drained  lot faster. I'm hoping this last full restart stops whatever started running on Monday - 1.5 days is frustrating.
