Sense doesn't record my steps when using poles

Does anyone use poles to hike or walk.  I have a Sense and it does not record my steps.

Thank you for the information provided.

 

For your Fitbit Sense to count steps during a walk, your arm must swing back and forth as you move.

 

When pushing a stroller, a shopping cart or holding a dog leash with the same arm that you wear your device on, your Watch will count your steps but the total may be slightly lower than usual.
