Sense features don't work without Premium

Greetings,

I've been a Garmin guy forever.  Was time for an upgraded capability so I did what I considered a lot of research before purchasing Fitbit Sense.  So many wonderful capabilities...Once I had the product though and began trying to understand how to make everything work, only does so if you UPGRADE and pay for premium service and third party apps.  So many hidden costs to unlock the features.  Not a fan of any company that does not clearly advertise capability vs. cost.  With Garmin it seemed much  clearer with what you got for what you paid.

Not sure if I'll keep this or return it.

Just make sure you understand what is available with and without Premium.  Most or all of the basic capabilities are still there without premium, and although there are some clock faces, and I guess apps, that have a fee, these are all by third-party developers getting paid a bit for their efforts.  Any fees I have seen are just a few dollars, and I have never felt even the desire for any of these, finding what fitbit offers to be quite sufficient.  One exception, I might have paid a couple of dollars once for a Christmas clock face that was quite elaborate with flashing tree lights.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

I believe all the features of the watch work without premium. Premium adds features to the app on your phone (like advanced sleep analysis, long term trends, and lots of video bumph that you could get for free on youtube). Premium is nice to have but massively overpriced. YMMV but not really a lot compelling 3rd party apps.

Thanks for your input - I have confidence that the basics will provide me what I’m looking for. I’m a basic user in many ways. For example Spotify and Pandora, these I take as they are and have been using them on my iPhone just fine. Now, if I want to use those via my Fitbit I have to upgrade them in order for them to play on the Sense. My research simply show that there was a lot of capability, and there is but it is going to come at the cost of upgrades here in there if you want what do you had envisioned:
