I agree. Mine was under-counting floors until a couple of weeks ago, when it suddenly started counting an astronomical number on days when I only climbed one or maybe two.

I had to change my original Sense wrist band because I developed sensitivity to the elastomer they used in the band.  I bought a metal band and replaced the elastomer band.  My Fitbit Sense was counting too few floors previously. I would go to the second floor two or three times a day and I would be lucky if it counted any of them.  Then comes the metal band... now I average 20 to 30 floors even when I go upstairs once a day.  Total garbage.

I've got to agree. My firmware is up to date. I've cleaned and restarted. Now I just ignore. Removed floor count from the app entirely  it's useless

Hi everyone.

Thanks for your continued reports about your Sense not tracking your floors accurately. I hear your feedback and I've passed it along to our team so they can continue working on this matter. I'm sorry for the inconvenience this has caused. Your patience is truly appreciated and be sure that every comment shared in this thread hasn't gone unnoticed.

@LizzyFitbit , thanks for the update. If there is any way I can help, let me know. I'd be happy to provide detailed information on valid / not valid stair count if it's useful

@LizzyFitbit. no offence but we've been hearing the same rhetoric for awhile now and it's falling on deaf ears.

It been since November that the community has been reporting this issue and to this very day it hasn't been resolved/addressed other than "we hear you and passed the issue onto the team" spiel.

I'd rather hear that it's is indeed a defect and it's been resolved and we're in testing now and it will be in the next firmware update coming soon.

I gave up on the device and the lack of clarity

My sense logs hundreds of floors a day.   Most definitely not accurate.

My next Fitbit will be an Apple Watch. They have had too long to address this issue.

This SENSE is being returned for refund via AMAZON, so I hope you FITBIT people come clean.  YOU BROKE IT and now you are not eager to admit or fix it.  What kind of outfit are you running there?   Not customer focused I can see.

Same! If I didn't have an android phone, I would be getting an apple watch. I am seriously considering going back to my Galaxy Active 2. It NEVER gave me this much trouble.

Same problem here. 63 floors registered, in reality only 4.

Problem still not repaired for several weeks.

My Sense is crazy about stairs. I just woke up and I’ve already done 11 flights.  By the end of each day, it says nearly 80 flights.  Please fix this bug!

And yes, I reset my Sense.  Still counting excessive amount of floors.

Yes , I routinely climb 50-60 floors in my sleep, these days...🙄 heart rate and step accuracy are questionable as well..doesnt exactly instill faith in anything else this goofy gadget reports...this is my first post .. does anyone from fitbit monitor these discussions and provide input? Restarting / resetting /re-pairing doesnt do anything... big waste of money .. considering giving it away ..looking at polar or garmin... apple ? Eh, not really looking to charge the thing every day..

I have used Fitbit for 10 years. 4 different ones (I keep upgrading devices) and NEVER had a problem until now. Don’t give up on it.

I'm a large man.  My sense counts flights of stairs from my bedroom to the bathroom to the kitchen and I live in a bungalow.  Doesn't matter what the outside pressure is, how fast my arm swings, whether I reset the watch, the band is tight or loose or if the wind is blowing outdoors or its raining.

Your husband's Sense might yet experience the miracle of the transcendent stairs.

The one plus: I have earned "mountain climbing" badges for my lack of effort.

AC's do not cause a significant change to air pressure inside a residence.  And for many of us in the northern hemisphere, we rely on central heating at this time of year.  And the ability to affect air pressure is insignificant unless your system is failing or has failed components.  And for those of us in an energy efficient home our HVAC systems are balanced to maintain proper air exchange/pressures. By the way the FAQ you link to is empty of any sense as it postulates a hypothetical that would require a multitude of factors to be just so in order to replicate the Ghostly stairs, especially amongst so many users found in diverse geographical locations separated by oceans no less in some cases.  From the type of equipment, sealed or unsealed structures, season, temperature settings, air exchange systems ..the variables are far too broad across too divergent a user group to suggest to any Sense owner that the AC could be at fault.

I’m having the same issue. whenever i go for a run my Sense exaggerates the floor count. Today I ran about 7.5 KM in a very flat surface and I got 154 floors 🤯

I tried restarting as it happened before but it’s obviously not correcting the issue.

Floors are counted by changes in air pressure, how ever this unwanted floor count problem seems to have been added with the latest firmware. The good news is that floor count is not used for any other calculations, such as calories.

During a run, the elevation changes are measured with gps and can be viewed through fitbit.com.
