The Fitbit App can lose connection and won't sync the watch data with the app and Fitbit servers.
Often a simple holding the watch button for 10 seconds till it blanks or vibrates and wait for the logo to appear and for it to start will suffice, other times you may also only need toggle Bluetooth off/on on the phone or restart the phone - whichever is the simplest that works.
