Sense not Monitoring Sleep Correctly

My husband has a new Fitbit Sense.which is about 2 weeks old.  For some reason, his sleep is not being captured.  He usually goes to bed at 9:30 p.m. and awakes at around 6:30 a.m., and the Sense may only show 2 sleep sessions of 2 or 3 hours each.  The watch is secure on his wrist and is charged.  I've seen some notations regarding restlessness.  My new Sense was received about the same time, and I'm not having any difficulty with sleep calculation.  Any suggestions would be helpful.  Thank you!

@Hashknife I'd be willing to bet it's a combination of 1) He's a restless sleeper and 2) His heart rate may not get low enough for long enough at night to record solid sleeping.  Your post says it usually records two sessions of sleep that average 2 or 3 hours per night.  That's about 4-6 hours of sleep and it's very likely that if he's a restless sleeper, that it's all the sleep he's actually getting.

 

I'd try to work on his sleep "hygiene". Maybe try listening to a sleep meditation online while he's settling into bed at night, maybe a chamomile tea, no alcohol before bed, a nice bath before getting into bed, etc.  All those are things that can improve sleep quality.  I know that I struggle with sleep if I've had a glass of wine or if I try to watch TV before bed. Also for me, I need the house to be cool and I need a fan on.

 

Anyway, I hope this helps a little bit and I hope your husband can get some sleep!

Is his sleep sensitivity set to normal?

 

tap on sleep tile then the cog wheel top right and at the very bottom is the sleep sensitivity tab.

@Hashknife I'm a restless/light sleeper and I find that my Sense tends to over-estimate my sleep, not under.  Is your husband a restless sleeper?  

 

I'd also be curious as to what his resting heart rate is and what it is at night during sleep because that could be a factor.  If he's heart rate doesn't drop low enough for the Fitbit to detect sleep, then it's possible it's not showing all of his sleep.

 

Has he tried restarting or resetting the Sense just to double check?

Thank you for your reply.  I did check the sensitivity setting which was set to normal.

Thank you for your reply.  He is a restless sleep; his resting heart rate is about 67.  Yes, we have reset/rebooted the Sense.
