Sense's speaker too quiet

Sense's speaker is too quiet when answering calls. I guess they can tweak it to be louder. Many times I gave up answering calls from my watch just because of the surrounding noise. Even at home it was not bearable.

It defeated the purpose of having this function.

I agree. The speaker volume is horrible. Why even include a speaker that's so bad. I hope to God they can improve the volume with an update because it's kind of embarrassing. The speaker on my Active Watch 2 was great. Not to mention that calls are now echoing. My wife was using her Sense watch to talk to me and I was echoing so bad on my Pixel 4 XL. I asked her if I was on speakerphone but she said nope, I'm using the Sense. Go figure. Before 5.1.1 calls were clear on both ends. I could hear her fine but on my end on my Pixel phone I was echoing bad. She said she could barely hear me because of the low volume on the watch so I tried to talk louder but that didn't work because then I started echoing on my Pixel 4 XL phone. Such a bad speaker on this expensive watch.

Hi @SunsetRunner. It's good to see you here in the forums.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience experienced with the speaker volume. Just if you've not done so, please try increasing the volume on your watch or your phone when using the on-wrist calls. Every feedback shared in the Community Forums is appreciated and passed along to evaluate our procedures and enhance your Fitbit experience, and yours won't be the exception. If you need anything else, let me know.

See you around.

Hi Lizzy, I'm having the same issue and can confirm, even when using the volume feature, the sound is too quiet to use.

Its very dissapointing. Since Moderators are no longer responding to feedback on this thread, I've made another post outlining the issue. Mainly asking if the speaker volume can be fixed in a future update.

I just got my Sense and set-up 12/29.  It will light up when a call comes in (via iPhone 6s) but the sound is so low I can barely hear anything.  Person on other end hears me fine,  Even pushing + button on sound many times, not improvement.  If this can't be fixed, I will be returning watch.  It just seems to have too many glitches that Fitbit has failed to fully vet before release and just don't work as advertised!

Hi...the sense speaker is worse than the versa 3.  my sister has the versa 3 and you can hear fine on that.

they both echo on the other person's end or it cuts in and out on the sense end.

something as to be done to fix this or maybe it is defective?

The miserable volume level is exacerbated by the fact it starts in the middle volume level every time, NOT where you last set it (all the way up).  So to answer the call on the wrist after you answer you are forced to click the volume control, then push up several times, then you are forced to use the lethargic haptic button to go back to the call screen just to hang up.  Please Fitbit engineers, improve the volume setting, either way, at the very minimum allow us to keep the volume on max without having to up it every time we use the Sense to answer a call.

Maybe an unpopular opinion on the Fitbit community; I've owned and loved many from the Charge line, but for anything 'smart' Fitbit isnt the right company. Do a google and check out their CEO's, managers etc. they don't care. Their products barely work and their devices can't be serviced with no intention to change at all.

I moved over to Garmin and couldn't be happier. Amazing what the Fitbit community is missing out on tbh....

Pros and cons to both Fitbit and Garmin. I from objective tests, FitBit tends to do sleep tracking better than Garmin. Garmin's smartwatches are more expensive.

I just bought my Fitbit sense and was nervous to trying to use the answer button. Finally I tried it and had to put the sensor up to my ear. I still could barely hear the person not knowing it was the certain person I was already talking to.

@KevinND Welcome to the Fitbit community.

You need to make sure the volume on your phone is also maxed out along with the volume on your Sense. It's possible one wasn't while the other was.

So, how do you adjust the volume on the Sense?? Haven't located that.

@pastimz While on a call, there's a speaker icon. Tap it and then you can lower or raise it.

Nope, doesn't work. The Sense answers at half volume and my husband can hear me, but when I increase the volume to hear him, then he can't hear me. So....no two way conversation is possible. Just got this Sense in the fall. All I can do re calls on my Sense is just to knock off junk ones. What gives?

@pastimz "All I can do re calls on my Sense is just to knock off junk ones." Huh?

It's possible that there's a noise cancellation that's kicking it when you have the volume up. So basically when he's talking you can't talk because the mic is cutting out so there's no feedback. It makes sense because the mic is just to the right of the speaker. If he's silent or pauses, you should be able to talk and for him to hear you. I've held a conversation just fine but again, it's really only good in a silent room and you kind of have to be consciously aware of when to talk. So it works, just not amazing.
