Sense screen fell off

Last night I woke up to the fact the the face of my sense had detached from the back. This is disappointing, the watch is jus under 3 years old and I only wear it to track my sleep. I do not wear it during the day. I believe that this happened because the battery most likely swelled up as lithium batteries tend to do this when the get older. Could be due to workmanship too.

The outcome was satisfactory, I did not expect a free replacement as my Sense was about 3 years old. The discount for a new one did convince me to buy another one, so we will see how it does.  I expect it to last at least 5 years.

Thank you.

Same thing just happened to me the night before last. 😧

Were you ever able to determine the reason why the screen detached?

Mine randomly detached while I was cooking dinner. (Standing at the counter and seasoning a few pieces of chicken, nothing that would cause anything to become overly stressed.) I'm disabled so it's not like I'm too hard on things seeing how most days all I can manage is getting back and forth between my bed and the couch.

Sadly, even if I were to be offered the same solution, in the end it won't be of much help since I can't afford even a discounted replacement. I'm still going to contact Support, even if it's just to let the QC team obtain more data regarding potential faults with this particular model.

Hello, the only thing I can come up with is the fact that it comes down to quality. The adhesive that they use apparently is not “permanent”, I did order some adhesive from Amazon, tried to glue it back together, I must have done something wrong as once it was cured the watch wouldn’t boot past the Fitbit logo. I guess I used too much or possibly pulled one of the screen connections loose. I can’t get it apart now, probably have to use heat to soften the adhesive. I just took the easy way and used the discount to buy a new model. It’ll take me a couple of payments to pay off the cc.

My ribbon cable was torn during the adhesive failure event so I don't even have the option to follow the nicely written self-repair guide I've since located in these forums. Having read more than a few threads regarding screen detachment issues I'm feeling even less hopeful when it comes to expecting a positive conclusion to all of this.

As a distraction I've been stalking my old loves: Timex Indiglo 40mm analog watches in the gunmetal/blue configuration.

Hi everyone and welcome to our new users.

You are doing well, and I appreciate all the conversations.

Let me say that contacting our support staff is the best course of action if you are experiencing this and haven't already. I'm unable to provide you any troubleshooting as it is a hardware problem.

@HyTeK Thanks a lot for your recommendations. Really appreciated.
