Hi there, @RLdukes. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I'm sorry to hear that you cannot access your Sense's settings. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this!

As per the description of your post, it does seem that your Versa 4 is in sleep mode. When the sleep mode setting is on:

  • Notifications, goal celebrations, and reminders to move are muted.
  • The screen's brightness is set to dim.
  • The Always-On Display clock face is turned off.
  • The screen stays dark when you turn your wrist.
  • The sleep mode icon illuminates in the quick settings.

To exit this mode, swipe down from the clock face on your watch to access the quick settings. For more information, see How do I navigate my Fitbit device?

You are correct my sense is indeed in sleep mode, but the button to turn sleep modeoff is grayed out, and I cannot change it

@RLdukes   It's odd that you wrote grayed out, because that icon is lavender when you are in sleep mode on the Sense and Versa 3.  Can you turn it off in the Settings app on your Sense?  Swipe to the left and tap on the Settings app.  Scroll down to Quiet modes and tap on it.  Look for Sleep mode and see if that toggle works.

@RLdukes Thanks for getting back and for the update.

I did have a similar issue with my Fitbit device a while ago. I know that you mentioned that you already tried turning off sleep and DND mode, but please note that DND and sleep mode can't be turned on at the same time what means that is very likely that DND mode is turned on (which keeps the sleep mode on). Have you tried just tapping DND to turn it off? When I had this issue, I was tapping all the options because I didn't know what was going, until I just tried turning off DND mode, and that was it, my issue got solved. Would you mind double checking that?

If the above doesn't help, please try
to change your clock face. If this fixes the issue, you can change your clock face back to the original clock face.

@LZeeW Thanks for your input!

@RLdukes Anytime! Thanks for confirming that you've tried the steps I recommended above.

As our last resort, I'd recommend performing a factory reset on your Sense. Important: Take into consideration that a factory reset deletes any stored data, which includes all data that hasn't synced to your Fitbit account, your applications, alarms, etc.

With the above being said, please sync your Sense and then, proceed with the steps below in the order listed:

  1. Hold the back button for about 8 seconds.
  2. When the Fitbit logo disappears:
    1. Release the button briefly (for less than 2 seconds).
    2. Hold the button again until you feel a second, longer vibration, which indicates you initiated the factory reset.

You can follow the steps to set up the device after that: How do I set up my Fitbit device?
