Sense steps accuracy

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have had my sense for a couple weeks and it's been good. But earlier this week I noticed it wasn't counting steps as accurately, and now I can walk a mile and it might count 100 steps or none at all. Today I went for a two hour walk and had 111 steps. I generally walk 20k steps a day, and I didn't even break 2k today without breaking my routine at all. So far, it seems like a seriously flawed product. I've started charging my old versa just in case. Is there something I can do to fix it? I tried restarting multiple times. I deleted my bluetooth and wifi and reset them. I restarted the app. Reinstalled the watch on my phone, etc. Nothing works.

I don't know what to do because I've probably had it too long to return it, but if it doesn't count steps it's rather pointless.

Thanks for your help! Hopefully someone has an answer!

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @Kelouc77.

I am sorry to hear your Fitbit Sense is not tracking your steps accurately. Thank you for trying to resolve this and providing the additional details. I understand how you are feeling and I am here to help. If you feel that your step count is inaccurate, please confirm the following are correct in the Fitbit app:

For more information, see What can I do if my step count seems inaccurate?

I believe the Sense is has a 1 year warranty so if it is not working properly you should still be able to exchange it.

I actually had the opposite problem: it was counting far too many steps for me, something like 18,000, when I'd only walked 4 miles and change. I switched the setting from non-dominant to dominant hand (although the Sense remains on my non-dom hand), as the tracking is less sensitive to account for dominant hand usage. This worked for me, and steps now track much more accurately, if not perfectly. Maybe you could try the reverse, if possible?

Their counter is soooo heavily tied to your arm motion and swing.  It registers steps when I am sitting on the couch petting the dog, it registered 10 steps when I scratched my head, yet didn't register a single step when I was walking through the store pushing a cart. ugh.
