Sense stopped receiving Gmail notifications

i stopped receiving gmail notifications (android, samsung s22+) on my fitbit sense.  not entirely sure, but possibly when you revamped the app.

i have searched the forums but most of the instructions are out of date and don't match eg. i cannot find anywhere that gmail is even mentioned, let alone to set it as the default app.

and in case it is related, for some time now i have to restart the sense almost every day otherwise it won't sync.

that said, it was syncing when i checked for gmail notifications.

Hi there, @Lccseh. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the troubleshooting steps you've tried. I'm sorry to hear that your Sense is still not receiving your Gmail notifications and it's also having syncing difficulties. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this!

I'd suggest resetting the Gmail notifications to see if that does the trick. To do so,  with your Fitbit device nearby, tap the Today tab, and then tap the devices icon > your device > Tap Notifications and go to E-mail notifications and you'll see the option to disable this feature. However, since you're referring to more than one email app, please tap App Notifications and look for Gmail, turn it off and sync your Fitbit device. Once this has been done, repeat the same steps but this time, please turn the Gmail notifications back on.

You can find more information about notifications in
 this article as well.

As for the syncing difficulties, I suggest following the troubleshooting steps provided in this help article Why won't my Fitbit device sync?

When i tapped Notifications, it said i need to enable notification service,
so i tapped on "enable notification service"

the next screen, titled "Notification Access", does not show email
notifications or gmail. here's the screenshot:

Hi @Lccseh - if your phone is not nearby or has stopped connecting to the watch you won't get any notifications on the watch.

Also if you swipe the watch face to the right to get to Quick Settings and find Sleep or Do not disturb enabled you won't get notifications either.

Otherwise notifications that appear on the phone status bar should appear on the watch unless you changed a setting in the Fitbit App.
