Sense stopped tracking my sleep data

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Sense has been working well for some time now until last Saturday night - it has only recorded basic sleep since. It's never been reliable but this is getting very annoying. Have tried all the recommended fixes. Any thoughts?

Hello there, @8810. Thanks for stopping by in the Community Forums and trying to troubleshoot the issue with your Sense before reaching out. I understand how you must be feeling.

To better assist you, please confirm if you've considered the following in order to get sleep stages:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, wear your device higher on your wrist (about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone). The band should feel secure but not too tight.
  • If you used the Begin Sleep Now option in the Fitbit app (instead of simply wearing your device to bed). For more information on automatic sleep tracking, see How do I track my sleep with my Fitbit device?
  • If you slept for less than 3 hours.
  • If your device’s battery is critically low.

For more information, see What should I know about Fitbit sleep stages?

Hope that helps.

Many thanks for your response. Unfortunately all suggestions have been tried many times in the past and currently without a result. Sadly this watch has not recorded sleep stages more often than it ever has worked correctly.

Kind regards

  • I have the same issue, started about the same time as yours, it records my bedtime start and stop hours, but 0 minutes of sleep logged for the past week and a half.

I had an Ionic for years and it was incredibly reliable for sleep tracking. Unfortunately they were recalled and I replaced it with the Sense last spring. It has never ever kept good track of my sleep. It is very frustrating. Many nights it doesn't track at all. It is tight on my arm, I have tried the sensitive setting, I have turned it off and on again many times. I sleep flat on my back all night long. I hardly move, exactly as I did with the Ionic. I really wish I had kept the money from the refund on the Ionic and bought a different brand, which I had been encouraged to do but sadly I really wanted to champion the Fitbit and it seems to be a lemon!

Well Sense worked by recording sleep stages for 5 nights and has, once again stopped working! Nothing about position of wearing or anything else has changed and Fitbit have clearly no answer! So many people have this problem the product should have been troubleshot and fixed by now.

I went to bed at 8:30 last night after having fallen asleep on the couch! I read for about an hour, got up around 4am to use the bathroom and went back to bed, waking at 8:11am. I was very interested to see my sleep score as it is unusual for me to sleep that long. My fitbit recorded sleep from 4:25 - 8:11am and nothing else! So frustrating!

There has to be an issue with the latest Fitbit/Google iPhone App update OR the Firmware for the Sense is no longer compatible with the iPhone App update! I am really tired of having software update/firmware update issues with Fitbit! I have owned both the Inspire and upgraded to the Sense when 2 separate Inspires FAILED to function in less than a year! I may be moving to the Apple watch unless Fitbit/Google get their Application Developers and Hardware Engineers in Sync  to Fix these issues! Without customers, they will go out of business. Maybe they all need to Practice and live by ITIL 4 Guiding Principles and Practices! Having this “vote” response for when incidents are occurring is such a poor business practice and it DOES NOT provide “value” to the “customer experience”!!

I have cleaned the device, band, charging connector, logged out of the iPhone Fitbit App, “forced quit” the App, Shutdown the iPhone, verified the iPhone App is updated, have checked more than once for a Sense “update”, etc. These issues, like others have reported, started this past Saturday!

Here we are a week later and Sense still not recording sleep stages/sleep score! No contact from Fitbit team yet again! Never again!

I have had my current Sense for about a year and wear it 24/7. My Sense was consistently tracking/providing sleep stages until the week of October 30th. Since then it is only recording basic

sleep and that is still not accurate as to when I fell asleep and woke up. I have tried all the standard suggestions many times without success. It seems this is a widespread issue and I am becoming very frustrated with it. I paid for a Premium Membership but am unable to utilize the readiness score or Health Metrics because I also am not receiving breathing rate or oxygen saturation data

Hi. Can't offer any remedy unfortunately as I've given up on Fitbit. Now have a Samsung 5 and it's brilliant! Good luck.

I have both a Sense and a Versa 3. They have both been very consistent at tracking all of the metrics, but they both stopped tracking sleep stages, breathing rate, heart rate variation, and now Sp02  right after I updated the app to 3.72. I have used the simple Check app and it shows all sensors are working. I have an iPhone 13 running  iOS 16.2. I have read and tried every troubleshooting suggestions multiple times but nothing has worked.

I’ve been a mostly happy fitbit user for 8 years, starting with the Charge, then Surge, Ionic, then Sense, then when the Ionic was recalled I replaced it with the Versa 3. I’m at a loss what to try next.

Help, Fitbit!

Now my sense will not turn on. I went to bed last night with 47% battery and it would not turn on this morning. I placed it on the charger and tried turning it on while it is charging with no success. When I push the button it vibrates but nothing displays on the screen. Can someone please help?

Sleep stages stopped working for me also as of 3 days ago. Also at the same time HRV and Breathing Rate stopped  working in Health Metrics. I then checked ECG app and it is not working either.  HR and Resting HR seem to be working so it doesn't seem like a sensor problem or any of the other suggestions from support. I use to love my Sense but not a happy camper now and will probably stop my Premium subscription soon if they can't fix these things!!!

@LMR0922

Same thing my Sense and Versa 3 are doing only it has been going on for 3 weeks. I’ve tried  everything I can think of or has been suggested. Nothing fixes it.

This doesn't work...  I have owned likely 8 fit bits and have tried this without success.  My fitbit quit tracking sleep on 12/23 and hasn't tracked since(sense!)  I have done all the "stuff" and no tracking.  While I have been loyal to FB it appears I'm about to move on.  Tracking sleep should and have always been easy.  This isn't the first time this has happened with the sense since I have had it.  So frustrating and Apple/Garmin here I come!

As I read all the comments, and the lack of assistance from FitBit it appears Google is not wanting to play with Apple apps.  And FitBit is silent on the topic.  Does anyone have something they switched to recently?  Apple Watch, Garmin, Oura Ring, etc..?

12/31 was the last time my Sense recorded sleep stages as well. Clearly some change made by Google. I’ve had my Sense for 2 years, and this issue has gotten progressively worse over time.
