Sense stuck on message "To start download the Fitbit app"

All of a sudden, my Sense watch stopped working. It is showing that I need to download fitbit app to begin. I cannot use my watch at all. 

I have tried to download the upgrade on the app, disconnected my watch, uninstalled the app, restarted my phone and nothing is helping. Customer Support is being useless. This is a horrible experience. Has anyone had something similar and been able to get out of this loop? The upgrade keeps failing.

This did not work for me. This is extremely frustrating and I will not be buying fitbit again at this rate.

For what it's worth. I'm holidaying in Nth America from Aus. Research trying to fix my Sense indicates it will not work with 5g, which is the internet platform here. So fingers crossed when I get home I'll have success using our NBN internet service. I'll let you all know. Cheers K

Mine now works, finally. I have spent some stressful days with this watch. But it works.

customer support is useless.. experiencing the same issue .. the customer support is like u have to discard the band

Same here. Called Support was on the phone for an hour and still nothing resolved. So frustrating 😮😮😮

Well Folks I finally got it to work. What I did was I went into the the phone settings app and opened storage. Clicked Clear Cache and restarted the installation and it successfully installed it again finally. I have a Samsung S21+5g for all of those having issues.

Did you just reset cache in yhebfitbit app or your entire phone? Sent from my T-Mobile 5G Device

I officially give up. I cleared cache and data. I restarted my phone. Deleted ALL devices from the app including my scale. Deleted the app, reinstalled. STILL WONT UPDATE! my phone is syncing to it so it's connected, but the update failed EVERYTIME! these 2 devices are paper weights. I'm so frustrated!

Fitbit app. Just tried it, got to the point of pairing with a code and
downloading the update. Then it failed again. Attempting again. Fitbit
screen goes through the motions and then defaults back to the download app
screen which scrolls through multiple languages. Grrr.

What are you trying to Update? The app updates itself through the Google store.

The watch itself reverts back to the scrolling download app screen. It pairs with a code, goes through the motions of the update, gets to 100% and then says update failed in the app.

I am having the same problem. I bought a used Sense. I got it paired with my phoneand set up. I had to update. The sense would connect to wifi. I would get a green checkmark on my sense screen. I would start the update, then after a few seconds I get a red X on the sense screen. Then a message telling me to try on Bluetooth. Tried that, same result as wifi.

Same issue here.
After using my Fitbit Sense for years without any problems, I suddenly have the message "To start, download the Fitbit app.".
I already have tried the process mentioned in the Fitbit Community without any luck.
I even tried on other phones, both android and IOS.
The Sense update fails at the end.
Tried, both Wifi and Bluetooth, no success.
It is purely the Sense update that fails, pairing is OK and synch is OK.
It seems there no solution found yet ...
Unless someone can correct me ... please ..
