Problem is stuck with one clock face

when change of clock face

"unable to update / install one or more apps.  Please try again".

The communication between the fitbit device and the app seems to be fine so I am not sure what this is referring to.   What do I need to do?  Is this a glitch with the update?

tried to take shutdown, restart iPhone nothing helps

31/10-20

Hi @Gringol. Welcome! It's nice to see a new face in the forums.

Thanks for sharing detailed information of this issue and for the steps tried prior to posting. I'm sorry that the clock face isn't changing on your watch even though it's syncing correctly. To work on this together, let me recommend to try the following steps:

  1. Remove the Sense from the Bluetooth settings.
  2. Turn off other Bluetooth connections that are nearby.
  3. Check if the Fitbit app is updated and force quit the Fitbit app.
  4. Reboot your phone and restart your watch.
  5. Open the Fitbit app, tap your profile picture > Set Up a Device.
  6. Choose your Sense, tap replace your device and follow the onscreen instructions.

Once your watch is connected to your Fitbit account, please try changing the clock face one more time.

Let me know how it goes.

I had the same problem. The trouble shooting fixed the issue before but did not fix my issue this time. This happens every time I want to change my clock face. I don’t think this is acceptable at all and especially if I need to switch to a specific lock face every night to get sp02.

Hi @DevonJoy. Welcome to the Community Forums.

Thanks for troubleshooting your Sense with the tips posted above. I understand how you're feeling about not being able to install other clock faces and I'm sorry for this inconvenience. This isn't the experience that we want you to have, that's why I've contacted our Support team to forward your post but it seems you already have a case created with them. Because they have access to your details, I'd recommend to keep an open communication so you can receive further assistance.

Hi Lizzy,

i am also having this issue. I have tried reinstalling and rebooting and the issue is still occurring. It wont sync properly as the app won’t update. The clock spectrum is running in the background. I am not using that clock, but it is the one causing the issues. How do i fix this?

@DevonJoyIs there something I don't have in my phone App?

Why do you switch to the SpO2 watch face at night?

The SpO2 app runs all night regardless of the watch face I thought, does it give you more information not found int the phone App the following morning?

@SueC27Did you remove the offending clock face?

You can remove using changing/removing a clock face.

@SueC27Y Hi Sue,This may work.

Go to your phone's Settings, Apps, Fitbit, Storage and clear the just the cache [not data].

Then try the removal after you've rebooted both your phone and restarted the watch?

If that fails try Fitbit Support They may be able to help you.

Did you try the clocks app on the watch to change to another preloaded one, then try removal from the phone end?

Sometimes you can't remove an active clock from the phone, hence choosing another on the watch then removing the previously active one works

originally and for other watches I think the spo2 clock face had to be on to track it. Turns out my watch just didn’t want to track o2 for the first week. It has since settled and now I just never ever change the clock face. But I’m still unhappy that it’s so difficult to switch faces.

I have literally not even once been successful changing the face from the watch itself. It just loads back the clock screen with the same face. It might put my app into a sync fit after where it jumpstarts my app problems before I go in to look there.

the one day it literally tried loading a clock face for the whole day. I didn’t have anywhere to be so I just let it sit there pretending to load.

I like the sleep tracking.it’s the reason that I’m here. I’m bummed I can’t personalize it all the time but I finally found a face that I’m okay with and I just plan to never change it ever.

but that’s still lame for the price.

Clock changing seems problematic under some conditions.

Best tips are to try and load a standard Fitbit clock and remove as many of the clocks in the app as you can, syncing constantly between each change.

It may require a reboot of the phone and restart of the watch in order to get a good bluetooth connection in order for the syncing to work properly.

Eventually you should be able to get rid of any problematic clocks that are on the watch. And then be able to switch between good clocks.

Hi everyone,

I'm having the same problems with my Fitbit Sense. Clock faces simply don't change on the watch no matter what I do or how many times I reset things, and when I try to change the face from the app it just says "Some applications did not finish installing. Do you want to continue installing them now?" and nothing happens.

So long story short, changing watch faces is simply no longer available on my Sense. I've restarted both devices many times to no avail, and this applies to all watch faces, whether third-party or Fitbit-made.

My question is, if there is a particular watch face causing this issue, how do I figure out which one it is? Should I just not use any third-party watch faces?

i had the exact same issue, tried so many times to correct, rebooted both fitbit and iphone. Mine was the spectrum clockface, it kept running in the background. Tatiana from support walked me through to correct. Try rebooting both fitbit and phone and then pick a new watchface. See if that helps.

Having this exact issue, but it's very specific. I only get the issue if I set the clock app to one of the 4 shortcuts on double home button press and then try to change the watch face through that shortcut. If from the home screen I scroll to the right and select the clock app from the apps list, it changes the watch face just fine as it does through the Fitbit app on my phone.

This is definitely a bug with the sense firmware that needs to be fixed. I have tweeted Fitbit support and explained the specifics of the bug so hopefully it will get fixed. Can't say I'm confident in the support persons knowledge though given they told me to Shangri a setting that was removed from the Fitbit app months ago to try stop my Fitbit from draining my phone battery so **ahem** quick.

You're absolutely right, the issue only happens for me when I use the clock app as a shortcut. I just tried changing the face from the main menu just as you described and it worked instantly!

So there's something of a fix, I would still really like the shortcut to work again but at least it's not totally broken.
