Unfortunately it's not up to just Fitbit/Google in cases where ECG and other features aren't available. It's also up to the government. Since Fitbit won't announce when they apply for approvals there's no way of knowing where they are in the approval process.

Thank you for replying, in this case it seems no application has been made. This should be made far clearer by Fitbit instead of just an asterisk on the website.
