Hi, can someone tell me the requirement that enables the fast charge on the sense please, it as just taken over an hour to charge from 0% to 99%” I am charging it from a 2.1v 5amp combine wall/usb socket.

also does the gps turn off automatically when you end the exercise type ie walk, as it connects to the gps when you start the exercise type.

thanks

Hi,

I would say going from 0% to 99% in an hour or so it's what you call "fast charging" 🙂 ?

Not sure what seems to be the issue here?

Cheers

Tomas

Hi, well on the product page it said 12minutes or did I misunderstand?

Thanks

If I plug the charger into the old USB 2 port on my laptop, the Sense displays a message that it is receiving low voltage and will experience slow charging.  If I plug the charger into a newer wall adapter, the Sense does not display that message.

It will give you a days charge in 12 min (a full charge is 6 days). So yes a slight misunderstanding.

Enjoy!

My 1 week old Fitbit Sense is plugged into a USB socket that is part of the 13 Amp mains socket in my kitchen, its been on charge for 2 & 1/2 hours but it has only gone from 25% to 58% in that time, I have also used a mobile phones fast charger plug that goes into a 13a socket, that too was no faster, hopefully I have not wasted some £220+ on a bit of kit that I cannot charge as I will not be a happy bunny I can tell you.

This seems much slower than what I am getting. I get about 30% in 15-20 minutes, I did not time how long it took to charge to 100% but I am pretty sure it was less then 2 hours. Might be worth a call to customer support. Good luck

Hi @daddybrubeck , the 13A applies only to the 120V AC outlet, the USB will have a much lower amperage rating, 2.4A or less. Check to see if you can find the rating of the USB.  It may be 500mA output (for example the standard iPhone USB charger was 500mA for years), and if so could be the reason why it is taking so long.

If Fitbit Sense advertised charging times can only be achieved by using a 2.4A USB, Fitbit should disclose that in their user's manual, and also that charging with lower rated USB ports will take longer.

Thanks for your input guys & gals, the same problem continues, I am using my Samsung's phones charger which gives out a 5v/2a charge, in 2 hours the Fitbit Sense has gone from 0% to just 2%, methinks there's something wrong there.

So I've had my Fitbit Sense for a few weeks and this has been my experience with charging. First off I had a Fitbit Iconic for roughly 4 years, what I noticed with my Fitbit Iconic was that when charging the watch once it got to around 85-90% of the charge it took nearly as long to get to 100% as it did to get to 85-90% so total charging time for the Iconic was roughly 2-2 1/2 hours.

I just started charging my Fitbit Sense watch right now using my USB 3/Gen 1 port on my PC. The watch was at 20% and within 25 minutes it is at 71%. At 1/2 Hour it is at 88%, At 45 minutes it is at 97%, at 1 hour I am at 100% This is slow charging according to the watch which keeps telling me I can fast charge using a different outlet. Maybe Fitbit could give us a clue on Fast charging?

What I have found thus far reguarding "Fast Charging" is that Fitbit gives no indication in the user manual what it means in terms of the USB device specifications you need to connect to achieve Fast Charging. From what I have found from another user comment on the Fitbit website is that he is using a USB charging port which produces 65w where he says he never sees the slow charging display on the watch and assumes that it is fast charging. Another user claims he has tried a 60w USB charger and he still gets the Slow Charging message. It would be nice if Fitbit gave some direction on this issue and yet they remain silent.

Here is a link that might give you a better idea on fast charging devices and charging spec's you need. https://www.reddit.com/r/Nexus6P/comments/3nyd8k/20151008_the_final_word_on_the_nexus_6p5x_fast/

As a side note: The battery life in my opion is no better than it was with the Iconic although charging is improved. Connecting to a WiFi connection takes forever or simply does not connect to my WiFi network even sitting right right next to my Pixel3 which has a perfect connection to the same network that the Sense refuses to connect to. Bluetooth works but as with the Iconic it is mediocre at best. Watch face offerings from Fitbit are lame at best given that this is a brand new version.

This is exactly how EVERY fast charging tech works. If it doesn't slow down at the final 10% or so, your watch would die soon. Just do some searches on Google regarding fast charging and you will find that it is absolutely normal.

I guess my comment is misunderstood. It pertains to the pop-up that continually shows up when charging that tells you that by using another outlet you can fast charge. I believe I may have found the answer. When charged on a USB3 port it takes about an hour to charge from 20%. The popup for fast charging did not show up. So I assume and I have not looked at the out put on that port yet but using a USB2 wall plug @1 amp takes around 1 1/2 to 2 hours to do the same charge. To bad they did not include a USB3 charging adapter.

I just got my new Fitbit sense. And I charged it fine right out of the box. But now trying to charge it for the second time, it doesn’t seem to be working. Does it (show ) that it is in the charging mode? And if yes, where would I find that? Lol. I’ve tried 6 different wall adapters, thinking it was them.

thanks for any help!

If you lift the watch off of the charger and reconnect it it should show you for a moment at what point the charge is at. I am using the watch face called "Clean Stats" by Hanseware which shows the battery and where the charge is at as well as showing when it is charging in the lower right corner. If you want to find that watch face or another one many including the one I have are free at https://gallery.fitbit.com/

Are you saying it would take 6 days to fully charge???

No @AnnaKuz fitbit said the battery would last 6 days, but forgot to last this long, we have to turn off SpO2.

A 15 minute charge should add about a day of usage.

Most people find it takes about an hour to charge from almost dead to full.

Use a wall brick charger that can deliver at least an amp. You can go higher, I use a 2.1 amp supply. The Spence has its own charging control circuit.

It's 12 minutes charge for 24h use, not full charge
