Hi @vbarstad most companies will put a hold on the account for the amount of the sale, but not actually put the charge through until the item is shipped.
Yes I spoke to customer service and I found out several things. I pre-ordered 2 Sense devices. One with Paypal which was charged instantly. For the second Sense I used my debit card and there has not been a charge, not even a pending charge. I was told that this is typical policy when it comes to Paypal. I was also told that they will ship by September 25th. This we all know from the original Press Release however I asked if that means they could ship sooner and I was told it is very possibly because they make it clear that it will ship by the 25th and not on or after release day. Maybe I will get them a day or two before the release date like I did with my last two Pixel phones (4 and 4a)? Can't wait to find out!
I was charged immediately, but I paid with PayPal; I ordered through Fitbit. You can preorder from Amazon, though, and I’m pretty sure if you do it won’t be charged until later (maybe not until shipped) if it’s like Amazon’s policy for preordering other things.
In practice, not my experience .
Received message from Fitbit that Sense was shipped and payment was taken...
DPD continued to deny that they received my Sense...contacted Fitbit several times who gave conflicting responses but eventually admitted that they did not have a Sense to ship nor could not tell me when one would be available to ship let alone when I would receive one.
I asked for a refund and was refused. I have raised a dispute of payment with Paypal.
