Not getting a clear response from Fitbit on HRV-b.
Will Sense do HRV or not?
What about HRV on earlier devices.
Why can't we get a straight answer Yes or No?

Hi, @nmrguy , I am so sorry, but for a better answer we need a clearer question. The sense will show your heart rate. In the app you will get graphs showing the heart rate throughout the day. I assume you are wanting a number for “heart rate variability” more than the graph available on the app?
Sense, Charge 5, Inspire 2; iOS and Android

HRV-biofeedback; idk if scientifically means something specific or difference compared to just HRV, probably not.
But HRV-c (coherence) is being studied for numerous mental health conditions like anxiety, panic attacks, pain response

I don't have the sense yet, or any Fitbit device, but you mentioned a graph. So there already is a graph right? Even for basic members? Doesn't that essentially show heart rate variability?

As far as I understand from the blog post the HRV information will be exclusively for Premium members.

Right, the new charts. But isn't there already heart rate information available to basic members? It may not be as easy to read, but there are heart rate charts for basic members aren't there?

HRV for biofeedback would be great.
Even if they don't currently use it in the app, if it were something that they might add later, or even better, if it were available via their API so 3rd party apps could do HRV biofeedback with the Sense, that would be great to know!

There is a difference between seeing your heart rate number trend throughout the day, vs a chart of how variable your heart rate is, which is what's new and is behind the Premium paywall (for now at least). Think of the SPo2, you have a chart that shows how this varies through the night when you sleep but you don't see the actual SPo2 number. With heart rate its the opposite, you have the number but the chart to show how it varies is new and is Premium only

@mbarylski Yes, the EOV graph is currently available to all Fitbit users with a device that has an SpO2 sensor. You can find this graph under Sleep > Restoration, down at the bottom.

Your question is clear I do not think the group is clear on what Heart rate variability is.
HRV is a number.
not a chart where you would need to pull down multiple data point per minute. To calculate.
It is represents depending on calc formula a standard deviation SDNN (the gold standard) or RMSSD (Root mean squared deviation)
it can be used to predict morbidity and mortality and parasympathetic influences on heart rate. Which can in turn be used to adjust workouts to better align with individual on that day.
I think Fitbit would do well to add this in a software release I would assume they already have data points but may require more accurate HR measure

@mikespec you can also measure HRV on-demand using EDA app. It will show you RMSSD in 2min time domain.
