Your tracker couldn't get a consistent heart-rate reading while you slept

I'm unable to get past this error "Your tracker couldn't get a consistent heart-rate reading while you slept" to get detailed detailed analytics.  I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, rebooting the fitbit and wearing it higher on my wrist.

I am currently in Afib and yes my Dr's know.  Would being in Afib cause the fitbit not to be able to give me detailed analytics?

I'm guessing, but I would say probably. Recently I had heart palpitations and tried to do an ECG and it failed to perform every single time. Seems odd because in times like those you would expect it to perform correctly. So extrapolating that out to your issue I would say it seems likely. By the way, the watch did not pick up my heart rate last night either, so I didn't get to sleep score or analysis. Out of curiosity, did you try the ECG function while you were in afib? Did it work?

Yes ECG works and detects Afib

Hello @pmarsh508 and welcome to the Community.  Yes it can and other users have reported this same experience.  This is oversimplified, but your Fitbit looks for certain heart rate patterns to judge sleep stages.  A-fib is an irregular rhythm and can't make those patterns.  My husband had A-fib until he had a heart procedure to correct it.  He actually got sleep stages with his Sense, but not his Ionic.

No A-fib but still a "Your tracker couldn't get a consistent heart-rate reading while you slept" message for the last 6 days. I have had sleep stages rather constantly since I have the Sense (over a year now). So it's very strange it just stopped working. Nothing changed, same wristband, no weight loss (or gain), no change in apps or watchface. You would almost think that Fitbit was tweaking 'the algorithm'.

Restarting and cleaning as suggested in the help section didn't work. So I'm open for other suggestions.

Tracking my health and movements with Fitbit from april 2014, now using a Sense 2™

@RonaldMIhave had my Sense for 2 months. In that time it has tracked my sleep very well up until recently where I am beginning to get the same result as you more often than I should. I'm not sure what it's causing it because I haven't changed anything. I'm beginning to think the sense was not ready for prime time when Fitbit released it. Based on the sheer volume of problems in this community board, I would say it could have used several more months of intense testing before being released to the public. I find myself wearing it less and less, relying on its data less and less, and when I do use it, I find the most useful features to be non-fitness features such as Fitbit wallet, answering text messages, and Google assistant.

@RonaldM Wow that's really strange. Yet during the daytime you're getting your heart rate just fine right? You haven't done a factory reset?

Sidenote: You seem to sleep pretty well with no awake (pink) lines, unless that's because it didn't have your heart rate.

@eezeepee yes, first I tryed a reboot and then back to the factory defaults. But still nothing. I have my skin temp, oxygen and resting heart rate in my statistics. And it also measures my heart rate during the day and when exercising.

@RonaldM I think all the overnight tracking or first thing in the morning scores problems is a server side issue. This is just my theory and I don't think Fitbit has ever officially given it as a reason. It's pretty inconsistent when these issues happen and it doesn't seem to be a Fitbit device or phone syncing issue. Yesterday, I was actually missing March 4 and 5 SpO2 overnight numbers (It's the only health metrics that I seem to miss once in a while) and then this morning I have March 6 as well as the missing 4 and 5. For you to go that long without a proper sleep score because the heart rate was detected is very strange.

When you go to your actual hearth graph, do you see the night time heart rate though? I circled my sleeping heart rates in red.

Same here, heart rate monitoring doesn't miss a beat at night...

@RonaldM Yeah that's why I'm leaning towards a server side issue. I hope you get your issue fixed.

I have the same issue with my Sense 2 "Couldn't Get Consistent Heart Rate". I tried everything. I am sending mine back and got a good deal on a Garmin Fenix 7x
