Redesigned Sleep experience now in the Fitbit app

Hi everyone! Starting today, you may notice a new sleep experience in your Fitbit app. If you don't have it right away, please be patient as it can take some time to reach all users.

Check out what’s new by going to the Fitbit Community blog

What do you think? Let us know!

The new layout is quite awful, does not look like much thought was put into. Maybe look at how whoop does it for inspiration?

I really don’t like the new format. For me it is  unclear and hard to read. The old one had bold colours and was much easier to see key data. This one is wishy-washy and confusing. Definitely not happy with the change 🙁

A few months ago when the update broke many Fitbit Charge 5 devices I thought  the update was attempting to throttle the battery so users would get frustrated and purchase a new Fitbit, but the update went too far and made many Fitbits  unusable. (Fitbit still hasn't owned up to the fact that their update caused the problem)

With the latest downgrade to the sleep interface, I'm now thinking Google wants us to buy their watch which they're advertising as a combo  watch and Fitbit.  Well, they can count me out. I will not purchase their watch and don't plan on purchasing any of their products. (I don't recall the name of the watch)

If Fitbit/Google shows consideration to their customers and shows they actually care about us, our experiences ,and our feedback, etc., I might change my mind.

Hi Rebecca, I really really dislike this new graph!! In fact I feel really hard done by! Why oh why has Fitbit done this when it was perfect! It is a great shame and I’m thinking of leaving Fitbit in fact!

Can you not give subscribers the choice please?

is there anyway I can get the old graph back please?

very disappointed and upset 😠

Why is nobody from Fitbit responding??? Your customers are clearly not happy with the update. Your silence is deafening.

This is absolutely awful.  The new color scheme and graph format is terrible. Plus I can’t see a history of my previous sleep scores all on same page - now I need to go to different tabs for week, month, etc.  Yet another useless change Fitbit did that made things worse… please go back to the old format…

Simply put - I do not like this new design. Each app design change seems to provide less color and a worse user experience.

I thought this too, they are taking away functionality as they are bringing out new models to try get people to buy the pixel watch which is ugly

I’ve noticed this too, was confused as didn’t see the second one at first, it used to show an awake section in your longer cycle now it’s splitting it in two

I do not like the display at all. The random hours at the bottom is for what? With the old version, I could see how much consecutive sleep I got and at what hour I was awake. The percentage at each stage is no longer visible. I have used Fitbit since 2015. I hung in there when challenges were removed. It appears user experience is not taken into account or Fitbit would have performed Beta testing to gage feedback before making the change. Also, notification to the community prior to making the “downgrade” is just good old process/project management. As a company, Fitbit has a right to do whatever they want. As a consumer, I have choices. What Fitbit provides and what I value no longer align. Time to, unfortunately, sever the relationship.

I just checked when my premium subscription was going to renew. Ironically, it was set to renew tomorrow. I quickly canceled it. So not worth it! If they make the changes users actually want, I will happily pay the premium.

I agree. I hate it as well!

The sleep stages look so messy. I can't tell which is which.

Plus it's less accurate. I got up at 4:50 to let the dog out and then went back to bed and it didn't record that.

I wish there was a way to go back. 😞

0/10 recommend. The only reason I kept my Fitbit was sleep tracking. The new “upgrade” is anything but that. Did you test it out with ANNYONE before foisting this terrible update on your user community? My family all switched to Apple Watches years ago.  I steadfastly declined their offers to get me one.  That is changing. I’ve owned a Fitbit since you first arrived on market. I’m sad to go, but you aren’t serving your user community well anymore.  Why “fix “what wasn’t broken?!?

Best Answer

Exactly how I feel! It’s horrible. I can’t imagine anyone liking this, if given the chance to test first. 🤦🏻‍:female_sign:

I just want to say again that I absolutely HATE the new update!!! It does not keep track of sleep throughout the day like it use to and last night I slept almost 3 hours from 11:30 - 2:30 and it didn’t acknowledge that time asleep but documented my sleep from 3:12 - 6:30. I have trouble sleeping and it’s sporadic throughout the day and night. The old one helped me and my doctor see my sleep patterns and times and now it’s not even accurate. Pathetic and a complete joke now. I will be canceling my premium and looking for a new sleep tracker.

I absolutely HATE this new graph and if a way is not introduced to revert I am leaving Fitbit

I agree. I don't like it at all. I may even consider discontinuing the use of Premium because of this.

@SunsetRunner Many thanks for the link to the article. Change is indeed hard! A part of the sentence which popped out at me was: "modernize and make it future-proof." I can get behind the future proof part. Yes, we have to give it a chance-onward!
