Why can't fitbit automatically track sleep/wake, like it does for every other activity? Want.

I use a wrist wallet with my One for sleeping and I like it much better than the sleep band.
Also, the habit i have gotten into for logging my sleep is:
1 Set/check alarm on my cell phone
2 Go into Fitbit app on phone, go to log sleep, begin sleep
in the morning when alsrm goes off, turn off alarm then mark yourself as awake in Fitbit app. i believe this works even if you have a phone that wont let you sync as long as you can install the app.

That is what I do. Just log my sleep to the log on the Fitbit page. I go to sleep and getup the same time so it is very easy. At first it was logging that I was only getting 2hr9mins of sleep, but is now logging atleast 6 hrs a night with some restless time. Which would be for mine and the dogs' nighttime br breaks.

That's my problem! I wish I could see online if it were in sleep mode or not, as sometimes I can't remember if I've put it into sleep mode for the night.

What do I have to do to get the Fitbitflex track my sleep?

Mia,
When you go to bed tap your flex rapidly until it vibrates. Then it is in 'sleep' or 'record' mode.
If you double tap you will see two lights bounce back and forth, many people call this 'snake eyes'
Sleep, dream.
When you wake up next morning repeat the tapping, you will see the lights go back and forth and finally just one light.
This creates an activity, and since you didn't move around too much the flex knows you were asleep. If you roll over or get up for a short time during the night it will note that you were restless.

Hi - I had the Flex for Christmas as I wanted something that would auto monitor my poor sleep. The first night I didn't understand the light patterns so it didn't enter sleep mode but it wasn't regisrering alarms either. So I've followed the guiance to restart it (which was successful) and got the correct patterns when I tapped it to enter sleep mode last night and the correct lights again to "stop" sleep this morning. Just synced it but still displaying "no sleep" entered. Its the main reason I bought it - can anyone help? I don't want to enter it manually as I toss and turn all night - I want the Flex to record this for me? Any pointers much welcomed

I have the ONE. Sleep mode does not work everytime for me. I hold the button down for 2 seconds until the stopwatch starts and this is supposed to enter you into sleep mode, then do the same thing to exit sleep mode. Mine is working correctly about every other night. Is anyone else having this problem?? I love the device and really enjoy seeing whats going on with myself and especially my sleep which is very poor.

I had the Flex for sleep tracking all last year (2014). I upgraded to the Charge early in 2015 (by the way, I love the Charge so much more than the Flex). As far as sleep tracking goes I have found that the Charge seems to work flawlessly without me doing anything for starting of stopping my sleep times (it just knows!).
All I have to do is go to my iPhone app in the morning (or anytime later that day) and the app goes thru a longer than normal sync as it pulls the night time data in. And voila, there is all my sleep info from the time I fell asleep until the time I got up. I have found that if I get up for some amount of time in the middle of the night (not sure on how much of a break it needs) it will then break it into 2 seperate sessions of sleep. But that doesn't bother me because it still has my total sleep tracked.

I never knew about this!
Do we have to switch it to sleep mode?

Just to let everyone know. I have the fitbit flex and was having trouble with turning it on and off sleep mode. This was very frustrating as I hit it about 20 or more times--way above the number of times indicated in the directions. After a few, very frustrating times I accidently discovered that if the band was held tight against the hand (with no spring or movement) it goes into either mode easily. I am no longer having to pound on the band. Hope this helps everyone experiencing problems.

I have One. I love it but the band that wraps around my wrist during sleep mode is annoying. It irratates my wrist, I would like a light band that could slip over wrist hence not coming off while sleeping.
