Battery Life and Syncing with Android Phone

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have been experiencing short battery life, less than 2 days with my surge and then if the battery dies, following recharging it will not sync to the phone, the phone doesn't recognise the surge at all and in the end I have to go through the process of repairing the surge and phone. This does not seem right just because the battery went flat.

Thanks @YojanaFitbit, I will go and review the battery life suggestions and see what happens. I should have added that I've only had my surge 3 months so it is proving frustrating.

What are your settings for All Day Sync and Always Connected in the FitBit app? If they are on try turning them off to see if it affects the battery life.

Best Answer

Thanks @TwoBit, have changed these settings after reading the battery life suggestion earlier.

Hey there @katstuck, @HuwP and @TwoBit! Hope you're doing great! Cat Happy

Thanks for the extra help @TwoBit!

@katstuck It'd be great to confirm compatibility with Fitbit to check the syncing issues. You can also check this requirements for syncing too. How many days is lasting your Fitbit? If you're not using a compatible device, your tracker might keep trying to connect unsuccessfully draining a little bit the battery of your Fitbit. How long is it lasting?

Also try to clean the contacts of your tracker regularly. These contacts can become obstructed by microscopic dirt or debris that prevents them from making a good connection to the charger. Use a toothpick or toothbrush to clean the charging contacts; do not scrape them with anything metal because this may damage the plating and result in corrosion. Cat Frustrated

How are you changing your Surge? We recommend plugging your charging cable into a USB port on your computer or other low-energy device. If necessary, you can use a UL-certified USB wall charger. Don't use a USB hub or battery pack to charge, and only use the charging cable that came with your tracker.

@HuwP My pleasure! You can also try to clean your Fitbit contacts too. If you need more help, I'll be happy to help!

Thanks all for the input @YojanaFitbit @TwoBit. Since I took the connected all day setting off the battery seems to last twice as long - probably not a surprise and more where I want the battery life to be.

I do think the USB cable connection to the fitbit is poor, seems loose and prone to making a poor connection but had the same issue with my fitbit flex and the charging unit was very poor after 6 months use!! I will try the cleaning methods you suggest @YojanaFitbit. Why shouldn't you use a USB hub for charging? Is it just down to the high output levels they can supply?

Not sure I have finished totally with help yet Smiley Wink
