Bike Ride tracking on Surge

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I bought the original Surge when it fist came out in January 2015. When in Bike Mode it worked beautifully, just like a cyclometer tracking distance(miles) pace, avg speed, etc. The band slowly begin to peel apart and was about to break so I bought a new one(under their past warranty 25% discount program). The new one now tracks stairs and steps. I don't care about stairs and steps when I'm on my bike. Someone messed up the program on the software update and it needs to be fixed.

How you doing @1952? I'm glad to see you around! Smiley Very Happy Hmmm... this is very strange my friend. Are you doing the same routine you did with the old Surge? If so, I'd recommend doing the following:

Make sure that your Surge firmware version is updated to the last one (version 16.34.5.14). In the Fitbit apps, tap or click the Account tab and then tap your tracker tile. You'll see the version number below the most recent sync time.

On the fitbit.com dashboard, click the gear icon in the top right and find your device settings.

Note that with Fitbit Blaze and Fitbit Surge you can swipe to the Settings screen to see your current firmware version.

  • Make sure that your Fitbit App is up-to-date by following @TarinFitbit's directions
  • Log out of your Fitbit App
  • Force quit the App
  • Restart your Surge by following @MeylinP's directions
  • Turn off the Bluetooth
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes
  • Turn on the Bluetooth
  • Log back into your Fitbit App

Once you've done this, let me know if this time your Surge starts tracking correctly.
