Hi, @SunsetRunner, from your post it is a little difficult to work out what exactly is happening, but, as a reminder, you need to set up (and pair) your Surge from the Fitbit app, not from the Bluetooth settings on your phone.
If that doesn't help, please post again, giving us details of what phone you are using, what you have tried, and what error messages (if any) you are receiving.
Someone should be able to get you going!
