Do the new models battery last up to 7 days? Because for me, this was the best feature of fitbit Surge. The monochrome LCD did not consume much energy and the design was much smoother (the new ones are too big).

I had the pleasure of a broken band too. In the replacement process, they told me to recycle my item.
They initiated a new order, I recycled my item - and then cancelled my order and asked for it to be sent in prior to them sending a new one out... David (via email) said they told me to return it in the chat, I asked earlier via chat (today) as to what had been said ... apparently they'd told me to keep it until the replacement had arrived. Can't keep a story straight. Very unprofessional. Won't be dealing with these again. I suggest you find a more reliable fitness band that's meant to last...
They want repeat customers - at the cost of supplying cheap bands at premium prices.
Of course, had they sent out a fitbit like they'd started - this wouldn't be an issue. So now I am without a fitbit... Thanks Fitbit!

So, given the number of users who have the broken Surge strap problem, it's obviously a manufacturing or design defect that needs resolution. That being said, I am on my 3rd Surge with the previous 2 having the broken strap issue. Both were promptly replaced without question and for that I am grateful. I would still like to know what the long term plan is to remedy the defect since I am now out of the one year warranty period. Six more months to go before the band breaks again....

Thanks for the advice! My strap broke as well. Well, actually I applied some basic superglue at the screws and the disruption has stopped (however it doesn't look good, but it's the inner side). Now I am e-mailing with the customer service, but as far as I know, the replacement straps wont last long either. Anyone in plastic industry wants to product durable straps for surge? I dont know much about the new models, but I just can not find a sport watch with such a great design (small) with monochrome LCD which makes the battery last for 4-5 days. We will see how log will the superglue last, but I am afraid this was my last Fitbit product.

Guys,
FitBit have no interest in apologising for the shoddy build quality, or even acknowledging this fact.
The good news is that replacing the band is very easy:

My battery is still okay (4-5 days without GPS use), but I was warned in this forum, that battery efficiency will drop after 2 years.
