I have a large, expanding bubble on the band after about 15-16 months, but all that is offered is a 25% coupon on yet another Fitbit product. What kind of quality control is that!?!
I can't see recommending a Fitbit to anyone.

The same exact thing happened to my last Surge. I contacted FitBit, and they sent me a brand new Surge 👍🏼🙂.
(I was given the option of purchasing any other Fitbit device for 50% off, or just getting the same unit for free)

I agree and am frustrated, too. I have just ordered my 3rd Surge in the last year. I received the first last July (2016) but the band bubbled and came apart in January and was replaced with no problem. Now the second one started bubbling and came apart within the last month. The bands for similar Fitbit products look the same and will probably bubble and come apart, so I stuck with the Surge. If it happens again, I am seriously considering switching to another type of fitness tracker.

Agree with all the posts on band issues. mine has essentially come apart to the point where you can see the internal components. Although this watch is marketed for runners, it seems to be inferior in holding up under simple wear and tear for a runner. I have received the same ridiculous "offer" of purchasing a new product (just a year after I purchased my original Surge) for a 25% discount. Who buys a new $100+ product on a yearly basis. I have now been forced to place visible electrical tape on both ends of the band and tell this ridiculous story to anyone who inquires.

It happens a lot with the Surge, and you won't get any help from FitBit if they have already replaced your FitBit within the year period. I had purchased two Surge's for my wife's and my 20th anniversary, and both bands broke within a year. When they replaced it straight up, I was impressed. Now, my wife's replacement broke again (with the bubbling band at the top), and the only thing they offered me was a "Sorry for your inconvenience." I didn't even get offered a 25% coupon. I am a little less impressed, especially with the band. The issue is the GPS antenna is in the band part that connects to the "watch" part, which makes selling replacement bands an impossibility for the company.
So, here's what you learn about Fitbit and the Surge:
1. Don't buy a product in which the company will not properly warranty the product and know there is a problem with the band).
2. Look online for purchasing a kit that will allow you to repair the band yourself. If you look on Amazon, you will find several kits. You will need to make sure you switch over the GPS antenna, but this worked for me (and saves a lot of money than purchasing a new athletic trainer).
3. Keep complaining about this to FitBit, and potentially BBB, so that they either remove the Surge from their sales line, extend the warranty on their band, or offer their own repairs on their own products when it comes to the band (that they would charge for, but still allow people to use a fully functional product except for the band that secures to your wrist).
You are not alone in your frustrations, and the moderators of this forum are not the problem. Remember that when you talk with the help desk people (either online or over the phone). Hang in there--the Surge itself is great, the band itself is defective.

Dear Yojana:
If you are going to forward information to your FITBIT team, I thought you may want my input.
I am on my third surge in 25 months..
The first band bubbled after about 7 months.
they sent a replacement... it lasted a little longer 9 moths, same issue bubbled up to the point of impossible to wear it.. They sent a replacement. reluctantly..... This one started developing a small bubble, which now is big, and on BOTH sides after again 9-10 months....
I did reach out to customer service, and they extended a 25% discount towards another FITBIT purchase.
Here is the issue:
FITBIT has known ABOUT this problem and, judging from all the complaints, this is a consistent problem for over two years now. NOTHING has been done to correct the issue. Yet they give a 25% discount towards to purchase of another DEFECTIVE unit that will bubble in a few months. No incentive to fix the issue, since they are still making sales at 25% discount. Frankly for me it is huge disappointment..I m embarrassed to wear the product, the way it looks, yet I am not inclined to buy another one for $150-$180 knowing they will send me a product that will only last 8-10 months..
How about asking for the defective ones back, to analyze the issue, research the answer, and fix the problem!!!
If you want mine back I will be glad to send it to you...I will even give you a 25% discount to send it back...HELLOOOOOOO
Very upset loyal customer

I went to the Garmin Vivoactive HR. Pretty much the same price as fitbit and it has GPS. Just my recommendations, I have been with Garmin for over 2 years and I've never had any issues.
