Are calendar notifications (from my iPhone) possible with the Fitbit Surge (in addition to call and text notifications)?

No, Surge supports Call and Text only:

 

Tracker Notification Type

Fitbit BlazeCall, Text, Calendar, Email, and App
Fitbit Alta
Fitbit Charge 2		Call, Text, and Calendar
Fitbit Flex 2
Fitbit Surge		Call and Text
Fitbit Charge
Fitbit Charge HR
Fitbit Force		Call only

No, Surge supports Call and Text only:

You need to install "Fit Notifications" application. It will be visible as a text messenger in fitbit device, but will show you all notifications on Fitbit Surge. Including Calendar and whatever you need. (You can filter the apps that will be synced with the fitbit device)
