Calories burned discrepancy

Please help!

I did a 50 minute spin class this morning, and my Fitbit Surge said I only burned 160 calories or so. I was drenched in sweat and I know for a fact I burned more than that. I am 5'6 and weigh about 113lbs. I run, hike, and spin all the time and am very active.

When I called customer support they basically alluted to me being crazy. I too have a body bugg, I am considering switching back to that!

This has to be wrong, correct? It totally bummed me out for my morning workout and meal plan today!

My fitbit was so off in tracking that "customer service" replaced it, only
to figure out it was a rebuild and today it quit working all together. No
charge, no nothing, no warranty since it is a rebuild so I'm SOL!!!
Actually it was a Christmas gift that now cannot be replaced. Definitely
putting some bad social media out about fitbit ....

Welcome to the Fitbit family @cflyer11! Let's try a couple of things here. Have you checked that your personal info is set correctly? Your Surge and Dashboard use this info to calculate how many calories you've burned. Also, check out this article right here on how does your tracker estimate your calories. Now, I'd suggest to restart your Surge and keep an eye on the calories burned after every workout session. Now, your Surge is able to be on spinning mode in order to have more accurate info about your calories, check out the following screenshot:

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have further inquiries, I'll be around! Cat Tongue

PD. I've moved your post to the Surge board so you can find more relevant information relating to your inquiry.

Inaccuracies during spinning and cycling is not uncommon. Fitbit optimizes trackers for step-based activities. Spinning and cycling are not step based. If it works for you then great, otherwise manual entry and probably override the calories because manual entry default calories is wrong for me (I'm 200 lbs and train hard, burn 800-1200 calories in 60 minute spin workout).

Hey, hey, hey @bbarrera! You are so right about Fitbit trackers being designed and optimized for step based activities. @cflyer11 thanks for getting back to me! Hey, I'd like to know about the percentage of calorie discrepancy you are showing between your Surge and to what are you comparing it to. Jus out of curiosity, have you tried to restart your Surge? If you guys feel that your trackers aren't accurately tracking your calories, I'd suggest contacting our Support Team for a second opinion. Oh! and please remember to mention them the troubleshooting you've perfomed so far. This will help them to properly follow up with  your case and to provide you with a quicker solution. Let me know how it goes! Smiley Very Happy
