Most often (actually, always) this isn't a Surge issue, but an issue with the set-up of the messaging app or the phone. To diagnose that, you need to provide more info.

@Sarotomasian are you clicking the button to the right? If so then you need to swipe down on the screen itself from the message title to get the content.
