Hi All,
I just got my FitBit Surge last night and it's great but there seems like there is a lot to learn about it. My friend has an older FitBit (the clamp one) and her data for the day always resets at midnight. I turned the Surge off when I was done with it last night, and to my surprise when I turned it on this morning the data had not reset. I synced it (I'm using the Android app on the Samsung Galaxy S5) and most of the data reset but not the calories burned. I looked through the forums and looked for an answer to my question and didn't exactly find one (maybe I missed it). Does the Surge need to stay on overnight for the data to reset? I hope not, because I would like to turn it off when I'm not using it to save battery.
Thanks
John

No, I turn mine off overnight these days and I've never had a problem with a reset not occurring.
Calories obviously start being burnt at midnight each day so you'll never see a 0 calorie count when you turn it on in the morning but everything else should be zeroed at switch on under these circumstances.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @johnhmcmanus! It's great to have you here!
I recommend you checking your personal info and verify that you are using the correct Timezone because if is not correct it won't reset your calories at midnight, I also recommend you restarting your Surge and I would like to share this article so you can understand better how Fitbit measures your calories burned.
Hope it helps, keep me posted :).
