Hello,
I'm a returning user to Fitbit but new to the surge. I read earlier that recording a pick up game of basketball was best to just do nothing on the surge and app, but to turn off location on my phone. I tried this out last week, and it seemed to work great. Just wondering if that's the best way?
Also, I've noticed that the unit and app have counted certain activities as "Outdoor Biking". Example, I was helping out a friend with his warehouse business, and I was riding around on a small forklift completing some tasks. Later that day, I looked at the app, and noticed that it counted 22 minutes of "Outdoor Biking" in my exercise. I thought to myself, how could this be? I wasn't actually riding a bike, and my heart rate wasn't up. Did I do something, is their a setting I need to change?
Thank you,

It will pick up the exercise after 10 minutes or aht ever is set in your Setting
Thank you,
See comments above
You can read about SmartTrack here
You can also change the Outdoor Biking to something else. I also moved up the main thing I do in the list under settings so it would pick up walking

Thank you Wendy, I appreciate your response. Based on a pick up basketball game last week, I figured out how to use these settings, I figured by leaving them all active, the device and app would recognize what I was doing automatically. I didn't realize by riding a forklift, it would have counted as active minutes and exercise. By this same logic, riding in a car for more than 10 minutes should also count. Just not sure why it could recognize that considering my heart rate didn't go up.

Forklifts are pretty bumpy. When ever I use mine at work it picks up steps.
On Cars it really depends on how bumpy the road is. Mine does not pick up steps in the car.
