Hello @Rdrunr2, welcome aboard to our community. Note that when you sync your tracker, is not possible this change your exercise type. So with this mind, in case the issue persist, I would like to request a screenshot of the activity is changing type after syncing. THis will allow me to have a better understanding of this issue.
In some activities you can see a pencil icon that allows you to edit or categorize your exercise on your web Dashboard. Although it wont work if the exercise was already categorized. If you are using the Fitbit app for iOS. Look for the tile "Track Exercise" and select the exercise you want to change and above the exercise summary you will see the option "Categorized Exercise". But remember that this options are not available if the activity was already change or if is a manual activity.
I'll be around and hope this issue is not longer persisting.

I will try this. However, this occurred recently. I was always getting my
exercise categories, then all of a sudden it changed to activities.. and
changed all previously categorized exercise to activities. so now you say
this solution will not convert all my previous exercise categories back as
previously reported?

Hi @Rdrunr2, my previous suggestion was to help you to categorized your exercise in case they appear as "Activities". Other way you can review your exercise, which is what I do when I'm not sure if my exercises are correct in the app, is to review the web based Dashboard in the Activity History. So far I haven't heard of any issue related to this scenario. So if you can share a screenshot with me I would be able to investigate further with my teammates or you can approach to our Customer Support team for additional help.
Keep me updated on this matter, I'll be around.
