Well, its been just over a year, my fitbit Surge (blue) is starting to come apart. My first fitbit Surge black was when they had no color option. It worked great untill the clap came apart and I had to rig on a fix to keep it on. I contacted fitbit, they sent me the brand new Orange one (I got to keep the black one). That one lasted a few months and the band started to bubble up, contacted fitbit again. I had to send that one back, they sent me a refurbed blue one. That one after 4 months the plastic is again pulling away from the watch face. I know its been just over a year and I am out of luck for any more refirbed replacements. I just wanted a fitbit to work and perform well. For its $250 price tag I was expecting more then just replacements of design defects to get me thru the year.
My wife went thru similiar problems with her fitbit charge HR (3 fitbit charges in just over a year). All of her problems were with charging and had one freeze on an update. I called about her 3 one falling apart. They said sorry its out of warrantee even tho the one that was falling apart she had for a few months. We dont swim or even take showers with our fitbits on!
We love the fitbit community of our friends and family, we are just very dissappointed in the quality of the actual product. Please fix this. We are trying very hard to be loyal customers.

@jonboy1969 Welcome to our Community! Sorry to hear that both you and your wife's trackers are outside the warranty period. Your tracker's (as you already know) are covered under Fitbit's 1 year limited warranty so if they are outside this period support won't be able to replace them. Also due to feedback like yours the newer trackers have replaceable wristbands (like the Fitbit Alta, Blaze, Charge 2 and Flex) to avoid this exact same situation. If you are interested you can read more about them in our comparison page.
I'll be around!

I had a similar experience. At about 13 months my Surge would barely hold a charge for 12 hours, and then it just started acting bizarrely. I called a month or two later and was told that my Surge was outside of the warranty period as well, but they would give me a discount on a new one. Seems like a clear case of planned obsolescence to me. Guess I'll just have to plan to spend $250 every 16 months in order to have a functioning fitness tracker.
