Fitbit Surge logging phantom laps?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I set up for a 10k lap run this morning, waited on GPS and set off. My plan was to press the lap button (top right/action button) every time I reached one of my well-known 'interval points' (i.e. a bit where I speed up for a stretch or slow down for a stretch) so I could analyse my pace through these sections afterwards. There are 8 such points on my route, so I pressed the lap button 8 times. However, I just looked at my dashboard there and I have 36 laps logged?!? Some of these are for tiny stretches of 0.02, 0.01 km. I was wearing a shell jacket over the watch, but I often do and it never accidentally pushes on the buttons, so I don't think this is to blame. Only other thing I can think of was that it was mizzly/rainy, but the Surge shouldn't be affected by this, should it (the watch did mysteriously end a run halfway through during the fog on Friday - hence my slight suspicion that the moisture might be affecting things)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Gord

Hey there, @Gordopolis! Welcome to the Family! That's odd. It sounds like you're really careful when using your Surge, I would recommend wearing your Surge a little bit higher in your wrist to avoid pressing that side button accidentally, take out any additional bracelet or watch if you're using any of those, also restart your Surge in case that is a hardware issue. Smiley Wink

I don't think the shell jacket or the rain could affect this specific feature either, because as you mentioned your Surge was under your jacket although you have to be careful if it is too tie maybe. Give a try and let me know if  your need anything else!
