Amazon sells kits to replace the strap. Their are videos of the procedure on YouTube. 

The two ends of the band are not interchangeable so I suggest changing one side at a time. 

 

I've replaced the bands on two different Surge units with little problem. 

While you are doing this, you might also want to change the battery. Also a soluble on Amazon.
