Hi Everyone,
I recently came back to using a Fitbit after having had the Force, and having to get a refund for it due to the rash that it gave me. I decided to go with the Surge due to it's ability to break down my exercise choices better than any of the other devices. Due to my physical disability, I mainly just bicycle, and do yoga, so I am hoping that the Surge will be a decent enough fitness tracker for those activities, as well as for monitoring my sleep.
I have some questions regarding the unit itself.
1. I have heard some complaints of the units falling apart. Has anyone had any personal experience with this, and if so, do you regret purchasing the device now?
2. It seems that the screen is very dark compared to other trackers that I have tried (Garmin VivoSmart, Apple Watch, and Pebble SmartWatch - tried them all, and returned them, since they were not to my liking - these devices either did too much or too little in the way of what I was looking for, so that is why I was so excited when Fitbit announced and released the Surge, as it seems to meet that middle ground for me). If the backlight is consistently on, has a drain on the battery been noticed?
Any other tips and advice regarding the Surge are greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

You can set the backlight to "auto" so whenever you touch the screen, press a button, or turn your wirst to look at the time, the light will turn on. Also, setting it to on doesn't mean it's on all the time: it only turns on when you touch the screen or press the button. See if that helps.
