A warm welcome to the Fitbit Community @Scottmckay!
Unfortunately, this is an example of the natural innacuracy of GPS tracking. Recently, I read that the best the satellites can do is to put you within 10 ft of your position. This is the satellite accuracy and has nothing to do with the quality of your GPS chip. Also, "stuff" blocking the signal interferes with accuracy. Are the buildings really close together? Are there lots of trees in your neighborhood?
I would recommend making sure that:
1. Make sure that you have cell data turn on if you are out of Wi-Fi range.
2. Turn on Background App Refresh by: opening your iOS settings > tap general > tap Background App Refresh > Find the Fitbit App and make sure it is turned on.
3. Lastly, make sure that you have Location Services enabled for the Fitbit App. This can be done by: opening your iOS settings > tap Privacy > Tap Location Services and make sure the Fitbit App is either set to "While Using the App" or "Always".
Keep me posted if this helps!
