Welcome to the Fitbit Community @StueyJenks ! Occasionally the tracker can have difficulty finding a signal, typically due to the tracker's fit. For example, wearing your band tightly may constrict blood flow in your wrist and affect the signal. We also recommend experimenting with how high you place the tracker on your wrist. When you're not exercising, wearing the tracker as you would a watch (just above the wrist bone) typically works fine. Because blood flow in your arm increases the farther up you go, moving the tracker up a couple inches can be helpful particularly during exercises that cause you to bend your wrist frequently. For more details, review the "What impacts the accuracy of my heart rate reading?" question.
Additionally, you will not see heart rate readings if your tracker's heart rate setting to "Off". If you have a Surge, you can change this on your tracker by scrolling to Settings. Navigate to Heart Rate Tracking. If it is set to Off, change the setting to Auto. If you have a Charge HR, you can adjust the heart rate setting on the Fitbit app or by logging on to your Fitbit account and going to settings.
P.S: Have you tried restarting your Surge?
Hope this helps!

Hi-Did you get your heart rate to come back? Mine quit working yesterday also. The setting is set to Auto as suggested.

Did you try the restart? If so and still not luck, my best recommendation would be to get in touch with Customer Support directly so they can see where the issue is coming from.
Don't forget to mention all the steps you've done so far to avoid getting the same ones.
You'll be in good hands!
