My wife and I both have the Surge.  We went for a 5 mike hike together using the hike feature under Exercise (the one that uses GPS).

At the end of the hike, my wife had 2000 less steps than me.  Since her walking stride is less than mine in oour profiles, you would think it would take her more steps to cover the same distance as me.

Anybody have any idesa/suggesstions?

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @kwhelan. It's great to have you here. Like you mentioned, your wife should have had more steps than you. I would recommend performing a restart to her Surge by following @Rich_Laue's steps. Then, give it another try. If she keeps experiencing the same problem please be so kind to contact Customer Support. Let them know the workarounds performed so they can further investigate your case.
