How you doing @Sand3169? Welcome to our Fitbit Community family! @SunsetRunner thank you for your participation. Fitbit Surge doesn't have specifically a light on it, but you can check the "Backlight" option, it is on your Fitbit Settings, swiping the screen to "Settings" > "Backlight" > "Auto or On". Was this the option you were looking for? If not, feel free to post back for further help.
