I've found that surge is useless when practicing martial arts or any contact activity as you can't wear jewery for obvious reasons. Is Fitbit going to come up with a divice that can address this huge problem?

Hello @Dinbych you can have up to 5 devices associated with your account and you should't experience any issue if you are not wearing both trackers at the same time. Adding more than one Fitbit tracker to your account gives you the convenience of switching between trackers while still seeing a holistic view of your daily activity on your dashboard. Hello @Dinbych welcome to the Fitbit Community! I was thinking maybe a clip based tracker like the Fitbit One will be good to record martial arts. I also found the idea: new clip on tracker on the Feature Request board, take a moment to vote and add your comments to the idea. The more vote it gets more opportunities it has to be noticed by our developers.

Thank you for the feedback, but as I have already got the Surge having another device will cause a conflict with the data will it not?
Now if the Surge could clip on is food for thought

That's a toughy. I only wore mine once and now I leave it off, for fear of damage. Also I don't want to injure anyone. Unfortunately I just wing it on the calorie burn.
