I've managed to connect my pixel 3 to my surge but I'm not receiving text/call alerts. Any ideas?

Hope you're having a great day @ESharp! Welcome to the Forums.  Heart

Thanks for the steps you have tried to connect your Surge, good job. I was checking comparability for Google Pixel phones, but I noticed that this model is not listed on the official list of tested devices that connects with Fitbit products.  That means that you have the option download the Fitbit App, but Fitbit can not assure that all the features will work flawless because the device is not totally compatible. Smiley Indifferent

You can try to troubleshoot it to see if this help. In my experience I have a phone that is not in the list either, and I receive call and text notifications. Once in a while a need to troubleshoot my phone to keep receiving the text notifications but at the end it works.

First:

1. Turn off Bluetooth.
2. Force quit the Fitbit app.
3. Turn on Bluetooth.
4. Open the Fitbit app, which will initiate a sync with your tracker. After syncing, you should receive notifications.

If these steps didn’t work, try restarting your tracker and then turning notifications off and back on:

1. Restart your tracker.
2. Turn off notifications: In the Fitbit app under Account (upper right corner), tap Notifications. Tap the three dots in the top right and choose Disable Notifications.
3. Reboot your mobile device.
4. In the Fitbit app under Account (upper right corner), tap Notifications > turn on the notifications you want to receive.

If you're still not receiving notifications, set up notifications again:

1. Disconnect ("unpair") your tracker in your mobile device's Bluetooth settings. The instructions differ by device, but in most cases: Tap Settings > Bluetooth and find your tracker in the list of paired devices.
2. Open the Fitbit app under Account (upper right corner), Tap Forget or Forget Device to unpair your tracker.
3. Reboot your mobile device.
4. In the Fitbit app under Account (upper right corner), tap Notifications > turn on the notifications you want to receive.

In case of having an Android phone, also check your phone Permissions and leave location on to keep syncing with your phone, for more info check those suggestions from @ErickFitbitSmiley Wink

Hope this help! Smiley Happy

I tried all of these things. it appears to work in that i can receive the test notification from the fitbit app on my pixel3 to the blaze but then that's it. all communication stops.

I just had a chat with support and was told that to this date the pixel3 is not on the list of compatible devices for any fitbit device!  This is very troubling. i've had my blaze for many years and was thinking about getting a versa2 pre-order but now i'm not spending any $$ with fitbit until  i know my pixel3 is compatible.

Hi,

I've sorted all my technical issues I was having with my ionic. I restored
factory settings. It hadn't been set up correctly at the beginning. I
have had no issues with it since. I am using the Fitbit all on the pixel 3
without any issues.

How do you reset the Fitbit back to factory settings? Just remove it from your account?

Reset factory settings in the watch:

Choose settings
Choose About
Reset factory settings is located in there.

So will I lose all my food lists and goals?

If you have synced the watch with the app then they will be available on
the app. You lose all data from the watch, so a sync first is worthwhile.

Have you had any luck with this yet? I'm going back and forth with tech support but keep getting the "we're working on it" responses. Weird thing is, mine was actually working for a while until it stopped. And it's just the texts that don't work, email and phone are good. Anyways, I took a shot and ordered the Versa 2, I'll let you know how that goes.

No. I have had no luck. My blaze is a little older. I had gotten one for my
husband about 2 years ago and his is working better with his pixel 3 than
mine. Lately he has had issues with the sleep stats not syncing! I'm really
so disappointed in fitbit. These phones have been around for about a year
now. You would think there would be some sense of urgency to get it right.
I find Fitbit to be the best tracker as far as data collected and the break
down of hate to leave the Fitbit community. For all these years it's just worked with my Galaxy phones. I had no idea support was so unhelpful.

As of 9/12/19 The pixel 3 is now in the list of compatible devices but it is not working for me yet! It's an update that according to Fitbit it IS supposed to work now.

I have had the exact same experience! Mine used to work for everything, then only showed the name of text senders and callers, and now only calls work. Fitbit support told me they were working on it. That is as far as I have gotten. No luck yet. I have tried resetting my device, reconnecting to my phone, restarting my phone, among other things.

Tried to setup notifications today, primarily for text messages, but was unable to receive notifications for anything from my Pixel 3XL on my Blaze.

Followed the various troubleshooting steps in various threads and was not able to find anything that worked.

At times, I really feel that most apps, including the fitbit app, are designed for iPhone with Android devices being an after thought.  Not to mention the support for Android devices when the app doesn't work.

Broke down and bought the Versa 2 and everything seems to be working great connected to my Pixel 3. Haven't tried the Blaze in a while, was hoping to sell it for a couple bucks. Is everyone still having the same problems?

I am still having the same problem but good to know the versa2 works. I have not upgraded to Android 10 on my pixel 3 yet have you? Coincidentally I just caved and got the versa 2 as well. Just waiting for delivery.
