Problems updating surge

I have just purchased a Fitbit surge but struggling to get it to update. Have downloaded the app on Windows 10 on the laptop, it's connected but won't do the final update , continually says update failed and retry. Have tried this numerous times but no luck. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @Iainnich72. It's great to have you here. If you are talking about updating the firmware of your Surge, since it is brand new it comes with the latest version (16.34.5.14). In this case it won't be necessary updating your tracker.

If you are referring to having difficulties to sync your data to your iOS device, please follow these troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue. Hope this helps.
