The reason for this is because the bike mode needs the GPS to track cycling. With running and walking the quick start monitors your steps for distance until the GPS locks on. Unfortunately there is nothing on the bike the Surge can do monitor. At best it is able to count the bumps and potholes.
Best AnswerGPS is not needed -- even the Charge HR can track biking with SmartTrack (https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/SmartTrack-FAQs). Plus I'm not really asking for anything fancy, just start the activity automatically once the GPS lock has been acquired rather than forcing me to press the start button.
Best AnswerThe Surge will only turn on yhe GPS when using the tracking function by pressing a button. For automatic tracking, this is not calculated until after the tracker had synced.
Best AnswerOk thanks. Was just trying to suggest a useful feature and I keep hitting a wall instead. Hopefully someone from Fitbit will be more receptive to this suggestion.
