Everything I read says the Surge is rain proof.  I ran a race today.  There was a light rain.  My Surge face is now cloudy. How do I dry it out?

Ok I really knew nothing about the rain or the history of the tracker. Was simply pointing out that their is a reason that no electronic device may be labeled as waterproof. So by saying that you thought the tracker is waterproof...

Hi @Padgtnbear   put your Surge into a dry bowl of rice for about 48 hours. Once you take it out, clean all the connectors, then charge it up and do a restart. Don't charge it before you dry it out. The Surge is actually splash proof, not to be worn in the shower or swimming. Let us know what happens.

Thank you for the suggestion.  I did not wear it in the shower or swimming.  I wore it during a race and it rained.  Fitbit claims the watch is rain proof and splash proof.  The rain was steady but light.  I did not expect the race to cloud up.  And it isn't the easiest getting a hold of white rice when you are on vacation in an unfamiliar city with no car.  Just a little frustrated at this point.

@Padgtnbear  enough rain can be almost like a shower. Being on the road is harder, but not impossible. There are cell phone drying packs sold at a variety of stores, including Walmart. You'd need to see what is available where you are and how you might get to the items you need. If you're with friends, they might drive you or know of public transportation. If you're in a hotel, ask at the front desk. They can often find ways to help people.

  • @Padgtnbear nothing that you read says the device is water or rain proof. Legally this is wrong.

The correct term is water or rain resistant

The difference is at some force the seal will fail. The display is only glued on.

Pressing buttons when the area is wet may also allow water to slip in around the seal.

Rich - it wasn't a downpour.  It was mostly a light misty rain.  And I had my watch covered by a windbreaker sleeve.
