Real time HR apps

Good evening,
I recently purchased a charge watch and really appreciate a lot of the features, but I am having difficulty finding an iPhone app that it will sync with that will provide me real time heart rate monitoring while I bike ride.
I am currently using wahoo fitness app to get real time speed and Cadence while riding and want to use my charge to provide real time bpm as I hate using a heart rate strap.
Thank you in advance for any help.

only the Fitbit app can display nearly real time HR data, when enabling all-day sync.

DuboisP thank you for that information.

Sounds to me like Surge is capable of real time HR but the apps on the Fitbit website have not integrated it for real time HR?

You can di it with the fitbit app and there is no need to have all day sync enabled.

Highly recommend Scosche Rhythm+ as its worn on your arm, just above or below your elbow. In detailed reviews it has consistently proven to be accurate. And it has Bluetooth so it will sync with you iPhone. I tried it with Wahoo Fitness and it works very well. Scroll down to Sensors and Mounts on this page:

I've also used Wahoo speed/cadence sensors with their RFLKT+ bike computer. Very nice as it shows HR, speed, cadence, distance, etc.

Fitbit does not provide 3rd parties with real-time access to HR. Fitbit designed Surge to only talk with Fitbit app. Unfortunately Fitbit did not create an open device for use with other apps or devices.

I've used Body Media fitness tracker and Mio Wireless Heart rate monitor. Both interfaced flawlessly with Runkeeper. the Mio gave me real-time HR data so I could see what my heartrate was doing at any given time in my run. However the Mio was not an activity tracker and the Body Media was not a HR tracker.

I thought I was getting the best of both when I purchased my Surge. Huge disappointment. I cant see my HR on Runkeeper, and no real-time data is available on Fitbit.

Agree, I was disappointed to find that Fitbit only sends an "all-day summary" to Runkeeper. Its worthless to me.

The Surge does provide real-time HR while running with it. Personally I like to review previous workouts, see a lot of activity level detail, share workouts between fitness sites, see more details about weekly/monthly/yearly activities, and receive estimates on over-training and tapering before a big event. For those reasons I vastly prefer Runkeeper/Strava/TrainingPeaks over Fitbit. However if you decide to "move" from Runkeeper to Fitbit, you'll get the all the basics with Fitbit.

It is ridiculous that I have to wear my MIO HR monitor to get real time monitoring on RunKeeper and to plot my HR with time, elevation and distance. If Fitbit wants to stay in the game they had better get on board with runners and bikers favorite apps!
