Stairs at a new building

I work from my office about 2 days a week...in November, that location changed from a one story facility to a 3 floor building with my office being on the top floor. I have not incorporated taking the steps instead of the elevator at my new office yet, but I have noticed on the days I work from the new site, the flights of stairs on my surge is recoded significantly higher. It's not uncommon for it to show 50-60 flights of steps when it should only reflect 1 or 2. I even noted that walking a couple hundred yards away and back seems to tack on 4-5 additional floors. I don't think the device is defective because this only happens on the random days I work from this specific location. My home has 3 floors and I find that the flights tracked on days I am at home seems to be right on. I am wondering why this occurs, or if there is anything that can be done to overcome it?

What's the pressurisation of the building and the air conditioning like? Because floors are measured on a pressure basis it's possible that something 'interesting' could occur as a result of a well sealed and pressurised building but I'd expect that to result in fewer recorded floors rather than more.

I've had similar anomolies.  I think it correlates pressure change while you're walking.

Thanks all... I live in Iowa so Air conditioning could be a factor in the summer but I doubt it's been on a lot since we moved, but I'm not sure about the pressurization....not sure how I would know...but I bet you guys are on to something.
