Steps being counted when moving wrist

Hi, I own my Surge since Novembet 2015, I have noticed that my Surge has been counting my wrist movements, if I'm moving my wrist back and forth it counts random steps, can someone tell me what should I do, I tried changing the dominant vs non dominant in settings but nothing has changed. I've read other users posts saying they had the same problem and the Fitbit might be defective ?

That's the way the tracker works, by counting steps through detecting the associated movements of your wrist. The penalty for any wrist worn tracker is that you can spoof it by moving your wrist in the correct manner.

Unless the movement is really whacky or you can see something particularly odd happening then it sounds to me like things are actually working as they're designed to.

I understand what you are saying but don't you think that is some bull? If I'm sitting down or laying down on my sofa, I move my wrist it adds onto steps, I don't think that's legit, it's a cheating way I just don't understand it. So how can this track my step if I didn't move my feet?

How is it supposed to know what your feet are doing from your wrist? All it can do is measure wrist motion and compare it against whatever internal 'picture' of a footstep it has (I.e. The movements your wrist makes in response to a footstep). If the comparison is successful, a step is counted. If it fails then nothing is counted. What else can it do considering where it sits?
