Steps on a bike ride...

I have another question: Is it normal for my Fitbit to discard step counts when I set it for a bike ride, but to count them when I go for a bike ride but don't set it as such? Given I'm in step challenges with friends, I feel an equivalent steps to distance cycled should be counted (say typical steps per hour on a 1hr bike ride) as a bike ride is still exercise after all. That or add cycling distances to the list of challenges.

Some steps are counted its just ot accurate. Biking is not step based. Most people just go with what they get.

Others are upset it counts steps at all.
